Five elephants, Mahendra, Dhananjaya, Ekalavya, Sugreeva, and Prashanth, are in the running to carry the golden howdah during Mysuru Dasara. They have completed the second phase of weight training. The third phase, involving carrying a 1,000 kg wooden replica of the howdah, was postponed due to heavy rains. This training is crucial for selecting a successor to Abhimanyu, who was retired due to age after six years of service. The Forest Department will evaluate their performance before making the final selection.

मैसूर दशहरा में शाही हौदा उठाने के लिए महेंद्र, धनंजय, एकलव्य, सुग्रीव और प्रशांत नाम के पांच हाथी दौड़ में हैं। उन्होंने वजन प्रशिक्षण का दूसरा चरण पूरा कर लिया है। हौदा के लकड़ी के मॉडल को उठाने का तीसरा चरण भारी बारिश के कारण टल गया है। यह प्रशिक्षण छह साल की सेवा के बाद सेवानिवृत्त हुए अभिमन्यु के उत्तराधिकारी के चयन के लिए बहुत ज़रूरी है। वन विभाग अंतिम चयन से पहले उनके प्रदर्शन का मूल्यांकन करेगा।
