Moderate Drinking Linked To 1 In 25 Lifetime Death Risk, Study Finds

A major new study challenges the long-held belief that moderate alcohol consumption is harmless. Researchers found that consuming an average of two alcoholic drinks daily is associated with a 1 in 25 lifetime risk of dying from alcohol-related causes. The analysis, which reviewed thousands of scientific publications, also found no overall protective health effect from alcohol. While seven drinks a week showed a much lower risk, the findings indicate that risks generally increase with higher consumption levels, impacting various health conditions.
