DRI Busts International Gold & Diamond Smuggling Racket at Mumbai Airport

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted an alleged international gold and diamond smuggling racket operating at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Investigators uncovered a hand-off system involving airport ground staff and arriving international passengers. Eight individuals, including an airport employee and foreign nationals, were arrested. The DRI seized gold worth Rs 12.64 crore and diamonds valued at Rs 1.10 crore. The operation involved passengers carrying smuggled gold and diamonds, which were then passed to airport insiders.

डायरेक्टरेट ऑफ रेवेन्यू इंटेलिजेंस (DRI) ने मुंबई के छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज इंटरनेशनल एयरपोर्ट पर चल रहे सोने और हीरे की तस्करी के एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय रैकेट का भंडाफोड़ किया है। जांचकर्ताओं ने एयरपोर्ट के ग्राउंड स्टाफ और आने वाले अंतरराष्ट्रीय यात्रियों को शामिल कर एक हैंड-ऑफ सिस्टम का पता लगाया है। एयरपोर्ट कर्मचारी और विदेशी नागरिकों सहित आठ लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। डीआरआई ने 12.64 करोड़ रुपये के सोने और 1.10 करोड़ रुपये के हीरे जब्त किए हैं। इस ऑपरेशन में यात्री तस्करी का सोना और हीरे लेकर आते थे, जिन्हें फिर एयरपोर्ट के अंदर के लोगों को सौंप दिया जाता था।
