A Naga civil society organisation has issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the return of the severed head of Ajinbou R., who was allegedly killed by militants in Manipur's Kangpokpi district. The headless body was brought for post-mortem, but the Joint Tribes Council stated it would not proceed until the head is returned for a dignified burial. The organisation holds state and central governments responsible for the renewed violence, which has seen at least nine people killed recently. Over 50 people have died in Kuki-Naga tribal violence since February.
