AI Resume Screening Shows Racial Bias in Hiring
Times of India · technology
AI is increasingly screening job applications, often without human review. A University of Washington study found AI models preferred white-associated names 85% of the time over Black-associated names. In identical resume comparisons, Black men were not selected in any tested model configurations. This bias reflects human preferences embedded in algorithms, not true neutrality. India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology released AI Governance Guidelines in November 2025.
