असम में बाढ़ से मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 62 हो गई है। 12 जिलों में 7 लाख से ज़्यादा लोग प्रभावित हुए हैं। इस भयानक बाढ़ ने खेती को भी बहुत नुकसान पहुँचाया है, 56,606 हेक्टेयर से ज़्यादा फसलें पानी में डूब गईं। यह तबाही दिखाती है कि ऐसे प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से निपटना और उबरना समुदायों और सरकार के लिए कितनी बड़ी चुनौती है।
