ICC Convicts CAR Militia Leader of Crimes

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has convicted Mahamat Said Abdel Kani, a former commander in the Seleka coalition, of crimes against humanity including torture. Judges in The Hague found him guilty for his role in running a detention facility in Bangui in 2013, where detainees were subjected to severe mistreatment. Kani was acquitted of some war crimes charges as the conflict had ended.
