Kerala Faces Power Crisis Amidst Rising Demand

Kerala is grappling with a severe electricity shortage, with peak demand exceeding 5,000 MW, far above the usual 3,900-4,200 MW for September. The state government is willing to purchase power at high prices, up to Rs 30 per unit, to meet the demand. This crisis strains Kerala's finances, with annual electricity purchase costs expected to rise from Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 16,000 crore.

केरल में बढ़ती मांग के बीच बिजली संकट

केरल में बिजली की भारी किल्लत हो गई है। सितंबर महीने में जहाँ आम तौर पर 3,900-4,200 MW बिजली की ज़रूरत होती है, वहीं अब यह 5,000 MW से भी ज़्यादा हो गई है। सरकार ज़्यादा दाम पर, ₹30 प्रति यूनिट तक, बिजली खरीदने को तैयार है। इस वजह से राज्य के खर्चे बढ़ेंगे, जो ₹13,000 करोड़ से बढ़कर ₹16,000 करोड़ तक पहुँच सकते हैं।
