Fishermen from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have agreed to use GPS technology to demarcate fishing zones in Pulicat Lake, ending long-standing disputes. Representatives from 25 fishing hamlets proposed replacing traditional boundary markers with a GPS tracking system. This move aims to resolve frequent confusion and conflicts arising from shifting water boundaries. The proposal was made at a joint meeting with state officials, coinciding with central government efforts to address dwindling aquatic resources in the region. The new system would alert boats and authorities if boundaries are breached.
