British track cycling star Matthew Richardson has been withdrawn from the 2026 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Shanghai due to allegations of misconduct. British Cycling confirmed the decision on October 12, citing an ongoing investigation into alleged discriminatory remarks and behaviour towards teammates. The 27-year-old was a strong medal contender in three events. While the allegations are not yet proven, the governing body stated it takes such concerns extremely seriously and investigates them thoroughly. Richardson is reportedly leaving the team's base in China as the investigation continues.
