UPI Charges Decision Final, No Rollback

Sources state the decision to impose charges on certain UPI transactions over Rs 2,000 is final and will not be rolled back, despite opposition criticism. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) clarified that while consumer-to-merchant transactions above Rs 2,000 will attract a Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) of 0.4%, person-to-person transactions and payments to merchants up to Rs 2,000 remain free. This move aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of the UPI ecosystem.

सूत्रों के मुताबिक, 2,000 रुपये से ज़्यादा के कुछ UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर शुल्क लगाने का फैसला पक्का है और विरोध के बावजूद वापस नहीं लिया जाएगा। NPCI ने साफ किया है कि 2,000 रुपये से ऊपर के कंज्यूमर-टू-मर्चेंट ट्रांजैक्शन पर 0.4% MDR लगेगा, लेकिन व्यक्ति-से-व्यक्ति या 2,000 रुपये तक के मर्चेंट पेमेंट फ्री रहेंगे। इसका मकसद UPI इकोसिस्टम को लंबे समय तक चलाना है।
