A water quality study in Keralam's Pala region has detected E. coli bacteria in 67% of water samples, raising concerns about drinking water safety. The assessment, conducted in flood-affected areas along the Meenachil river, analysed samples from several municipalities. Researchers attributed the contamination spike to recent floods, which may have allowed surface water to enter water sources. The study recommends scientific chlorination and mandatory water quality testing after floods.
