Bengaluru Minister Sets October 31 Deadline For LED Streetlight Replacement

Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has mandated the completion of LED streetlight installation and replacement across the city by October 31. He instructed officials to conduct physical inspections post-installation and penalise contractors for any failures or maintenance issues. The Greater Bengaluru Authority has already fined contractors ₹93.67 lakh for streetlight maintenance failures. The minister also directed the replacement of old sodium-vapour lights with LEDs in the East City Corporation area. This initiative follows months of reviews and follows a recent inspection where several streetlights were found non-functional.

Bengaluru विकास मंत्री कृष्णा बायरेगौड़ा ने शहर भर में LED स्ट्रीटलाइट लगाने और बदलने का काम 31 अक्टूबर तक पूरा करने का आदेश दिया है। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को लगाने के बाद भौतिक निरीक्षण करने और किसी भी विफलता या रखरखाव के मुद्दों के लिए ठेकेदारों पर जुर्माना लगाने का निर्देश दिया। ग्रेटर बेंगलुरु अथॉरिटी ने पहले ही स्ट्रीटलाइट रखरखाव में विफलता के लिए ठेकेदारों पर ₹93.67 लाख का जुर्माना लगाया है। मंत्री ने ईस्ट सिटी कॉर्पोरेशन क्षेत्र में पुरानी सोडियम-वाष्प लाइटों को LED से बदलने का भी निर्देश दिया। यह पहल महीनों की समीक्षाओं के बाद हुई है और हाल ही में एक निरीक्षण के बाद हुई है जिसमें कई स्ट्रीटलाइटें खराब पाई गई थीं।
