Ethiopia has announced the installation of an interim government in the Tigray region following its military's recapture of the northern territory. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that a six-month administration would be put in place, with free elections to follow. This move comes after Ethiopian forces pushed back an uprising launched by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) last month. The interim government, comprising five appointed officials including Mekelle's mayor, will operate under direct federal government directives to foster stability.
