MoES Secretary Urges Prioritising Science-to-Service Conversion for Economic Growth

Ministry of Earth Sciences Secretary T. Srinivasa Kumar has stressed that converting scientific advancements into public services must be the top priority. He highlighted India's progress in ocean forecasting, noting the 'Bharat Forecast System' has significantly improved services for fishing communities, potentially increasing catches by two to four times. Kumar also emphasized that economic development must be environmentally sustainable. The convention also featured discussions on interdisciplinary collaboration, data-driven research, and securing critical mineral resources through indigenous technologies for India's future.

पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय के सचिव टी. श्रीनिवास कुमार ने जोर देकर कहा कि वैज्ञानिक प्रगति को सार्वजनिक सेवाओं में बदलना सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता होनी चाहिए। उन्होंने महासागर पूर्वानुमान में भारत की प्रगति पर प्रकाश डाला, यह देखते हुए कि 'भारत पूर्वानुमान प्रणाली' ने मछली पकड़ने वाले समुदायों के लिए सेवाओं में काफी सुधार किया है, जिससे संभावित रूप से दो से चार गुना अधिक मछलियां पकड़ी जा सकती हैं। कुमार ने इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि आर्थिक विकास पर्यावरण की दृष्टि से टिकाऊ होना चाहिए। इस सम्मेलन में अंतःविषय सहयोग, डेटा-संचालित अनुसंधान और भारत के भविष्य के लिए स्वदेशी प्रौद्योगिकियों के माध्यम से महत्वपूर्ण खनिज संसाधनों को सुरक्षित करने पर भी चर्चा हुई।
