A new study reveals that nearly half of the world's farmers suffer from pesticide poisoning each year. The research estimates 402-433 million cases of unintentional acute poisoning annually. Alarmingly, India accounts for almost 60% of the 11,000 annual fatalities caused by pesticide poisoning. This highlights a severe global health crisis impacting agricultural workers and demanding urgent attention to safety measures and regulations.
