Himachal Gram Panchayat Head's Power Cut Over Smart Meter Dispute

In Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, a village head's electricity was disconnected by the electricity board for refusing to install a smart meter. The Gram Panchayat head, Vinay Kumar Sharma, called the board's action worse than British oppression and threatened to remove power poles and wires from his private land. The board stated that connections are cut after a 24-hour notice if smart meters are not installed as per rules.

हिमाचल प्रदेश के बिलासपुर जिले में, एक ग्राम प्रधान की बिजली स्मार्ट मीटर लगाने से इनकार करने पर बिजली बोर्ड ने काट दी। ग्राम प्रधान विनय कुमार शर्मा ने बोर्ड की कार्रवाई को ब्रिटिश उत्पीड़न से भी बदतर बताया और अपनी निजी जमीन से बिजली के खंभे और तार हटाने की धमकी दी। बोर्ड ने कहा कि नियमों के अनुसार स्मार्ट मीटर नहीं लगाने पर 24 घंटे के नोटिस के बाद कनेक्शन काट दिए जाते हैं।
