Air India Group intends to order more wide-body aircraft to expand its international reach, despite high operating costs being a significant concern. CEO Tewolde Gebremariam stated the airline is working to reduce these costs and expects to return to profitability soon. The group has already placed firm orders for 600 aircraft since its privatisation in January 2022, including 80 wide-body planes. Gebremariam emphasized that bringing down the cost per available seat kilometre is crucial for the airline's financial health and competitiveness.
