Sawan Barwal Wins Silver, Ends 44-Year Wait

Sawan Barwal has secured a silver medal in the men's marathon at the Asian Games, marking India's first medal in the discipline in 44 years. The Indian Army havildar achieved a personal best timing of 2:11:37 at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. India's last marathon medal was a bronze won by Hosur Kukkappa Seetharan in the 1982 Delhi Games. Prior to this, India had only won marathon medals in 1951, also held in New Delhi, with Chota Singh taking gold and Surat Singh Matur securing bronze.

सावन बरवाल ने एशियाई खेलों में पुरुषों की मैराथन में रजत पदक जीता है। यह भारत का इस खेल में 44 साल बाद पहला पदक है। भारतीय सेना के हवलदार बरवाल ने 2:11:37 का अपना सर्वश्रेष्ठ समय निकाला। भारत को आखिरी मैराथन पदक 1982 में दिल्ली में मिला था। इससे पहले 1951 में भी नई दिल्ली में हुए खेलों में भारत ने मैराथन में पदक जीते थे।
