BRS Leader Seeks Stronger Anti-Defection Law

BRS leader B Vinod Kumar has called for immediate amendments to the Constitution's 10th Schedule, proposing a three-month limit for deciding disqualification petitions. He argued that indefinite delays undermine the anti-defection law's purpose. Kumar cited a recent ADR report indicating 111 elected representatives switched parties between 2022 and 2026, with many joining the BJP and its allies. He urged the central government to introduce a bill to strengthen the law in the upcoming winter session.

बीआरएस नेता बी विनोद कुमार ने संविधान की 10वीं अनुसूची में तुरंत संशोधन की मांग की है। उन्होंने अयोग्यता याचिकाओं पर फैसला लेने के लिए तीन महीने की समय-सीमा तय करने का प्रस्ताव दिया। कुमार ने कहा कि अनिश्चित देरी दलबदल विरोधी कानून के उद्देश्य को कमजोर करती है। उन्होंने एक रिपोर्ट का हवाला देते हुए बताया कि 2022 से 2026 के बीच 111 निर्वाचित प्रतिनिधियों ने दल बदले, जिनमें से कई बीजेपी में शामिल हुए। उन्होंने सरकार से शीतकालीन सत्र में कानून को मजबूत करने के लिए विधेयक लाने का आग्रह किया।
