Sebi Tweaks Closing Auction Session Rules For Derivatives Settlement

India's markets regulator Sebi has revised the Closing Auction Session (CAS) process, altering trading timings and the method for determining settlement prices for derivatives contracts. The new CAS will run for 10 minutes from 3:30 pm to 3:40 pm, with derivatives trading continuing until 3:45 pm. Settlement prices for expiring derivatives will now be calculated using a Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) methodology over the last 30 minutes of trading. These changes aim to enhance transparency and price discovery, addressing issues of wild price swings observed previously.
