Ladakh Groups Reject Govt Proposal, Call It 'Significant Departure'

Key civil society groups in Ladakh, the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), have rejected a fresh draft proposal from the Union Home Ministry. They described the proposal, shared on October 15, 2026, as a significant departure from previous assurances and commitments made during earlier meetings. The groups urged the Ministry to reconsider and accept their own draft Memorandum of Understanding, which they state reflects the genuine aspirations of the people of Ladakh since 2021.

लद्दाख के मुख्य नागरिक समाज समूहों, Leh Apex Body (LAB) और Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) ने केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय के नए मसौदा प्रस्ताव को ठुकरा दिया है। उन्होंने 15 अक्टूबर 2026 को साझा किए गए प्रस्ताव को पिछली मुलाकातों के दौरान दिए गए आश्वासनों और प्रतिबद्धताओं से एक बड़ा अलगाव बताया। समूहों ने मंत्रालय से पुनर्विचार करने और उनके अपने मसौदा समझौता ज्ञापन (MoU) को स्वीकार करने का आग्रह किया है, जिसे वे 2021 से लद्दाख के लोगों की सच्ची आकांक्षाओं को दर्शाता बताते हैं।
