The United States government has suspended the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) program, which allows companies to sponsor foreign workers for green cards. Vice President JD Vance stated the move targets companies abusing the system to hire lower-paid foreign workers, calling them "indentured servants" and accusing them of displacing American workers. This decision impacts thousands of foreign IT professionals, including those at Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL, and Capgemini, who have been waiting for years. The administration aims to curb immigration and protect American jobs.
