Bangladesh Court Sentences 7 Leaders To Death

A Bangladesh court has sentenced seven senior leaders of former ruling party Awami League to death in absentia for crimes against humanity. The convictions relate to their alleged role in suppressing the 2024 uprising, which resulted in approximately 1,400 deaths according to the UN. The accused include two former ministers. This verdict brings the total number convicted in connection with the protests to 68, with 22 receiving death sentences.
