Opposition MPs 'Impeach' CEC Gyanesh Kumar Alleging Collusion With BJP

Times of India · politics

Around 250 opposition MPs, led by Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, held a symbolic 'public impeachment' of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They accused him of colluding with the BJP to compromise national election management and sought his trial for treason. The resolution cited charges including questionable handling of poll rolls and alleged deletion of 14 crore voters through manipulated software. The INDIA bloc claims the CEC ignored other Election Commissioners in decision-making. This move follows rejected notices for Kumar's removal in Parliament.
