FPIs Retreat ₹48,000 Crore In October; IT Stocks Attract Inflows
Business Standard Markets · stocks
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) significantly increased selling in the first half of October, withdrawing ₹47,955 crore, more than double the previous fortnight's ₹21,745 crore. Only five out of 24 tracked sectors attracted inflows, with IT stocks being the sole bright spot, attracting ₹2,599 crore. Financial services saw the largest outflow at ₹8,634 crore, but IT holdings jumped 11% in value, aiding overall equity holdings. This selective buying in IT suggests continued caution among foreign investors despite a risk-off stance across other sectors.
