Mark Waugh Backs Lyon's Exclusion Amidst Australian Team Selection Debate

Hindustan Times · sports

Former Australian batsman Mark Waugh has stated he has no complaints regarding Nathan Lyon's exclusion from the second Test against South Africa. Lyon, who has over 550 Test wickets, was dropped to accommodate pacer Scott Boland, a decision Waugh believes is justified by pitch conditions. This mirrors a similar situation during the Ashes last year. While Waugh supports the tactical move, former spinners Kerry O’Keefe and Steve O’Keefe have expressed their displeasure with the decision to omit a bowler of Lyon's caliber.
