Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 at Madrid's Metropolitano Stadium. Pablo Barrios opened the scoring within the first minute, dedicating his goal to his captain Koke, whose mother had recently passed away. Ademola Lookman extended Atletico's lead in the 79th minute, shortly after Manchester United's Leny Yoro received a red card. This loss marks a disappointing start to the campaign for Manchester United and intensifies pressure on manager Michael Carrick, as the team struggles with a winless streak.
