Chief Justice of India Surya Kant stated that while democratic and political protests are necessary, the Supreme Court should not be involved. He emphasized that protests should not inconvenience litigants, lawyers, or court staff, and that designated protest sites exist. The CJI's remarks came amidst opposition leaders planning a march to the Supreme Court and concerns raised by lawyers about illegal detentions and internet suspension. The court aims to ensure the smooth administration of justice remains unhindered by such activities.
