Boar-loving 3-year-old tigress arrives at Buxa Tiger Reserve from Bihar

A three-year-old, 150-kg tigress, known for preying on wild boars, has arrived at Buxa Tiger Reserve in North Bengal from Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve. This marks the initial phase of an ambitious tiger reintroduction program. The tigress, fitted with a GPS-enabled radio collar, will be monitored closely to track her adaptation and movement patterns. She is expected to be released into the wild, following a period in a 2.2-hectare enclosure. This initiative aims to re-establish tigers in the region.

जंगली सूअरों का शिकार करने के लिए जानी जाने वाली 150 किलो की तीन साल की बाघिन बिहार के वाल्मीकि टाइगर रिजर्व से पश्चिम बंगाल के बक्सा टाइगर रिजर्व पहुंची है। यह एक महत्वाकांक्षी बाघ पुनर्प्रस्तुति कार्यक्रम का प्रारंभिक चरण है। जीपीएस-सक्षम रेडियो कॉलर से लैस बाघिन को उसके अनुकूलन और आवाजाही के पैटर्न को ट्रैक करने के लिए बारीकी से निगरानी की जाएगी। 2.2 हेक्टेयर के बाड़े में कुछ समय बिताने के बाद उसे जंगल में छोड़ने की उम्मीद है। इस पहल का उद्देश्य क्षेत्र में बाघों को फिर से स्थापित करना है।
