The accused, identified as Bhootha Lingaiah, reportedly promised to sell five kg of gold coins from a hidden treasure. The goldsmith paid the money in instalments over time, including ₹20 lakh online and ₹1.1 crore in cash, after selling assets. The accused failed to deliver the gold, prompting the goldsmith to seek police intervention to recover the funds and initiate legal action.

एक 40 वर्षीय सुनार ने पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई है कि एक व्यक्ति ने आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सक बनकर उससे ₹1.3 करोड़ की ठगी की है। आरोपी, जिसकी पहचान भूथा लिंगैया के रूप में हुई है, ने कथित तौर पर छिपे हुए खजाने से 5 किलो सोने के सिक्के बेचने का वादा किया था। सुनार ने संपत्ति बेचने के बाद, जिसमें ₹20 लाख ऑनलाइन और ₹1.1 करोड़ नकद शामिल थे, समय के साथ किश्तों में पैसे दिए। आरोपी सोना देने में विफल रहा, जिसके बाद सुनार ने पैसे की वसूली और कानूनी कार्रवाई शुरू करने के लिए पुलिस से हस्तक्षेप की मांग की।
