Hindustan Times · politics

Republican Rep. Byron Donalds has declared Florida remains a "red" state following his historic victory in the governor's race. Donalds, a close ally of Donald Trump, defeated Democrat David Jolly to become Florida's first elected Black governor. He succeeded Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is leaving office after two terms. Donalds thanked Trump for his support, noting the former president was among the first to call him after the win. The race tested Trump's influence, with Donalds campaigning on continuing Florida's conservative direction.
