Tamil Nadu Mandates Three Compulsory Physical Education Periods Weekly for Students

Tamil Nadu schools will now observe three mandatory physical education periods each week, with an additional two periods allocated for extracurricular activities that can also be converted to PE. This decision, announced by School Education Minister Rajmohan in Chennai on Tuesday, aims to ensure students engage in physical activity five days a week. The revised timetable was released during a review meeting with District Education Officers concerning curriculum, hygiene, and school facilities. The minister also addressed teacher eligibility tests, assuring support for educators.

तमिलनाडु के स्कूलों में अब हर हफ्ते तीन अनिवार्य शारीरिक शिक्षा (PE) पीरियड होंगे, और दो अतिरिक्त पीरियड एक्स्ट्रा-करिकुलर एक्टिविटीज़ के लिए रखे जाएंगे जिन्हें PE में भी बदला जा सकता है। यह फैसला स्कूल शिक्षा मंत्री राजमोहन ने मंगलवार को चेन्नई में घोषित किया, जिसका मकसद यह सुनिश्चित करना है कि छात्र हफ्ते में पांच दिन शारीरिक गतिविधि करें। संशोधित टाइम-टेबल को करिकुलम, हाइजीन और स्कूल सुविधाओं के संबंध में डिस्ट्रिक्ट एजुकेशन ऑफिसर्स के साथ एक रिव्यू मीटिंग के दौरान जारी किया गया। मंत्री ने टीचर एलिजिबिलिटी टेस्ट (TET) पर भी बात की और शिक्षकों को सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया।
