Following a clean sweep in the recent Legislative Council elections, the BJP is now focusing on winning the Hiriyur Assembly constituency byelection. Party State president B.Y. Vijayendra announced that NDA partners would discuss strategies with JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy soon. This focus comes after a State office-bearers’ meeting where BJP national general secretary Harish Dwivedi urged party leaders to campaign on pro-people issues and prepare for upcoming local body elections. Dwivedi also highlighted public discontent with the Congress government, attributing the Council poll results to this sentiment.
