Bengal CM Launches Emergency System, Aims To Cut Police Response Time

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari launched the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with the goal of significantly reducing police response times. He noted the state's average response time is around 90 minutes, far exceeding the 6-10 minutes seen in states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The government plans to equip every police station with four motorcycles and four cars within a year and has approved the recruitment of 1,500 drivers. Adhikari also vowed strict action against those attacking police personnel.

पश्चिम बंगाल की मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने शनिवार, 10 अक्टूबर 2026 को इमरजेंसी रिस्पांस सपोर्ट सिस्टम (ERSS-112) लॉन्च किया। इसका मकसद पुलिस के रिस्पांस टाइम को काफी कम करना है। उन्होंने बताया कि राज्य में औसतन रिस्पांस टाइम करीब 90 मिनट है, जो उत्तर प्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र और गुजरात जैसे राज्यों में देखे जाने वाले 6-10 मिनट से बहुत ज़्यादा है। सरकार अगले एक साल में हर पुलिस स्टेशन को चार मोटरसाइकिल और चार कारें देने की योजना बना रही है और 1,500 ड्राइवरों की भर्ती को मंज़ूरी दे दी गई है। अधिकारी ने पुलिसकर्मियों पर हमला करने वालों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई का भी वादा किया।
