UP Voter List Finalised, Yet Duplicate IDs Surface; SP, Fact-Checker Raise Concerns

Despite the completion of a SIR process and the release of the final voter list in Uttar Pradesh, issues of duplicate voter ID cards have emerged. The Samajwadi Party has complained about multiple entries for the same individual in several assembly constituencies. Fact-checker Mohammed Zubair also questioned the Election Commission's verification process after highlighting cases of individuals holding multiple voter IDs. The Chief Electoral Officer stated that generating multiple EPIC numbers from multiple applications is a long-standing problem being addressed through periodic deduplication checks.

उत्तर प्रदेश में मतदाता सूची का अंतिम प्रकाशन हो चुका है, लेकिन डुप्लीकेट वोटर आईडी कार्ड की समस्या सामने आई है। समाजवादी पार्टी ने कई विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में एक ही व्यक्ति के कई बार नाम होने की शिकायत की है। फैक्ट-चेकर मोहम्मद जुबैर ने भी कई वोटर आईडी रखने वाले लोगों के मामले सामने लाकर चुनाव आयोग की सत्यापन प्रक्रिया पर सवाल उठाए हैं। मुख्य चुनाव अधिकारी ने कहा कि कई आवेदन से कई EPIC नंबर बनना एक पुरानी समस्या है, जिसे समय-समय पर डुप्लीकेशन जांच से ठीक किया जा रहा है।
