Google Engineer Quits Over Rapid AI Advancement

A Google DeepMind engineer, Robert O'Callahan, has resigned citing the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence. He believes AI progress is "far too rapid" and that making AI cheaper and lower-latency is not beneficial for people currently. While not convinced of extinction-level risks from artificial superintelligence, O'Callahan considers the risk real but uncertain, deeming the pursuit of ASI in the near future irresponsible. His work focused on hardware chip design, which he realized was accelerating AI capabilities.

गूगल डीपमाइंड के इंजीनियर रॉबर्ट ओ'कैलाहन ने आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI) की तेज़ रफ़्तार तरक्की के चलते इस्तीफा दे दिया है। उनका मानना है कि AI का विकास बहुत तेज़ हो रहा है और इसे सस्ता व कम समय लेने वाला बनाना फिलहाल लोगों के लिए फायदेमंद नहीं है। हालांकि, वे सुपरइंटेलिजेंस से ख़त्म होने के ख़तरे को लेकर आश्वस्त नहीं हैं, पर इसे वास्तविक मानते हैं।
