Fresh ethnic tensions have erupted in Manipur's Thoubal district after a man was killed during stone-pelting between two villages on October 18. Incidents of arson followed, leaving Khangabok and Sangaiyumpham villages on edge. Security forces have been deployed, and authorities imposed restrictions, ordered gun surrenders, and recently lifted a curfew. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited the affected villages, assuring residents that peace talks would be organised to de-escalate the situation.
