Delhi HC Seeks Centre's Response On Allowing Calculators For Disabled Students
The Hindu · india
The Delhi High Court has requested responses from the Centre and other authorities regarding a public interest litigation. The PIL seeks permission for Class 12 students with disabilities, excluding those with Dyscalculia, to use basic calculators in mathematics and accountancy exams. Petitioners argue that current restrictions impose an extra cognitive load and reduce time for demonstrating conceptual understanding. A CBSE curriculum committee had previously approved allowing calculators, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020, but the proposal has not been formally implemented.
