A 15-year conservation effort has permanently protected 181 acres of ecologically significant forests and wetlands along the Nanticoke River and Wright Creek, spanning Maryland and Delaware. The project involved negotiations with eight descendants of Henry F. Porter, whose family inherited the land. The newly established Henry F. Porter Preserve in Delaware and the Porter Tract in Maryland are part of a broader initiative to safeguard the Chesapeake Bay watershed. This initiative aims to protect wildlife habitats and maintain the health of connected waterways.
