The BSE Sensex closed up 879.09 points at 72,472.33, and the Nifty 50 rose 288.65 points to 22,520.45, both gaining over 1%. Broader market indices like Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 also advanced. The Nifty IT sector led sectoral gains, rising 3%, with most other sectors also showing positive movement. Market breadth turned positive, with more stocks closing in the green than in the red.
