Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's India visit will occur when timing is conducive and mutually agreed upon by both nations. Dhaka clarified that the BRICS summit invitation was for Bangladesh as BIMSTEC chair, not the PM personally. The minister emphasized a desire to build a new relationship with India through direct bilateral discussions, moving beyond multilateral forums.

बांग्लादेश के विदेश राज्य मंत्री हुमायूं कबीर ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री तारिक रहमान की भारत यात्रा तब होगी जब दोनों देशों के लिए सही समय होगा और आपसी सहमति बनेगी। ढाका ने साफ किया कि BRICS शिखर सम्मेलन का निमंत्रण BIMSTEC अध्यक्ष के तौर पर बांग्लादेश को था, न कि प्रधानमंत्री को व्यक्तिगत रूप से। मंत्री ने कहा कि वे बहुपक्षीय मंचों से हटकर, सीधी द्विपक्षीय बातचीत से भारत के साथ एक नया रिश्ता बनाना चाहते हैं।
