Karnataka CM Defends Milk Price Hike Amid Drought To Protect Farmers

Hindustan Times · india

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has defended the state's decision to increase milk prices by ₹8 per litre, effective November 1. He stated the hike is essential to protect farmers' interests during a severe drought, which has reduced milk production and caused farmers to sell milk in neighbouring states. The increase aims to ensure farmers can afford fodder and sustain cattle, reflecting respect for cows. Of the ₹8 increase, ₹7 will go directly to farmers, raising procurement prices and boosting their annual income significantly.
