Mutual Funds Halt Gold FoF Investments Amid Rupee Pressure

Mutual funds have stopped accepting new investments in gold fund of funds (FoFs) starting Friday, following instructions from the Securities and Exchange Board of India. This move is attributed to concerns over the current account deficit and ongoing pressure on the Indian rupee, a major import item. While lump-sum and new SIP/STP registrations are halted, existing transactions will continue. Similar restrictions have been placed on some silver FoFs, though gold and silver ETFs remain open for investment.

भारतीय प्रतिभूति और विनिमय बोर्ड (SEBI) के निर्देशों के बाद, म्यूचुअल फंड्स ने शुक्रवार से गोल्ड फंड ऑफ फंड्स (FoFs) में नए निवेश लेना बंद कर दिया है। यह कदम चालू खाते के घाटे और भारतीय रुपये पर चल रहे दबाव को लेकर चिंताओं के कारण उठाया गया है, जो एक प्रमुख आयातित वस्तु है। हालांकि एकमुश्त और नई एसआईपी/एसटीपी पंजीकरण रोक दिए गए हैं, मौजूदा लेनदेन जारी रहेंगे। कुछ सिल्वर FoFs पर भी इसी तरह के प्रतिबंध लगाए गए हैं, हालांकि गोल्ड और सिल्वर ईटीएफ में निवेश के लिए खुले रहेंगे।
