SC Refuses To Relax Bail Conditions For Delhi

The Supreme Court has refused to relax most bail conditions for Meeran Haider, an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots case. Haider is restricted from participating in programmes, addressing gatherings, or circulating posters. The court stated these conditions were intentionally kept broad. However, the bench modified one condition, allowing Haider to mark his attendance at the police station once a week on Saturdays instead of twice weekly. This change was made considering his employment needs and a special circumstance of his upcoming marriage.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने दिल्ली दंगे के आरोपी मीरन हैदर की ज़मानत की शर्तों में ज़्यादातर ढील देने से मना कर दिया है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि हैदर किसी भी कार्यक्रम में हिस्सा नहीं ले सकते, लोगों को संबोधित नहीं कर सकते और न ही पोस्टर बांट सकते हैं। ये शर्तें जानबूझकर व्यापक रखी गई थीं। हालांकि, कोर्ट ने एक शर्त बदली है, अब उन्हें हफ्ते में दो बार नहीं, बल्कि शनिवार को एक बार पुलिस स्टेशन में हाज़िरी देनी होगी। यह बदलाव उनकी नौकरी और शादी को देखते हुए किया गया है।
