The Telangana government is planning to build a 14-month foodgrain security buffer to protect 3.42 crore Public Distribution System users. Officials have been directed to ensure pending rice supplies reach government stocks on schedule. The state currently has 28.03 lakh tonnes of rice available and expected, sufficient for 11.7 months. This measure aims to safeguard against potential drought, crop losses, and rising prices anticipated due to the El Niño phenomenon. The government is also considering wheat flour and other essentials for the buffer.

तेलंगाना सरकार 3.42 करोड़ सार्वजनिक वितरण प्रणाली (PDS) उपयोगकर्ताओं की सुरक्षा के लिए 14 महीने का खाद्य सुरक्षा बफर बनाने की योजना बना रही है। अधिकारियों को लंबित चावल की आपूर्ति समय पर सरकारी स्टॉक तक पहुंचाने का निर्देश दिया गया है। राज्य में वर्तमान में 28.03 लाख टन चावल उपलब्ध है और अपेक्षित है, जो 11.7 महीने के लिए पर्याप्त है। इस उपाय का उद्देश्य एल नीनो घटना के कारण संभावित सूखे, फसल के नुकसान और बढ़ती कीमतों से बचाव करना है। सरकार बफर के लिए गेहूं का आटा और अन्य आवश्यक वस्तुओं पर भी विचार कर रही है।
