Bikers Turn Highway Into Danger Zone

High-performance bikers are reportedly turning the Zirakpur-Kalka-Shimla highway into a dangerous speed track on weekends, with some reaching speeds of 150 kmph and performing stunts. Groups gather early morning near the Chandimandir toll plaza before riding at excessive speeds, posing a significant risk to other commuters. The highway lacks speed-detection cameras, and despite a 50 kmph limit for two-wheelers, some riders allegedly exceed 120 kmph. This dangerous riding has contributed to numerous crashes and fatalities on NH-5 over the past five years.

ज़िरकपुर-कालका-शिमला हाईवे पर वीकेंड पर हाई-परफॉरमेंस बाइकर्स की वजह से खतरा बढ़ गया है। कुछ तो 150 kmph की रफ़्तार से बाइक चला रहे हैं और स्टंट भी कर रहे हैं। ये ग्रुप्स सुबह जल्दी Chandimandir टोल प्लाज़ा के पास इकट्ठा होते हैं और फिर तेज़ रफ़्तार से निकलते हैं, जिससे दूसरे यात्रियों के लिए बड़ा खतरा पैदा हो रहा है। हाईवे पर स्पीड-डिटेक्शन कैमरे नहीं हैं, और दोपहिया वाहनों के लिए 50 kmph की सीमा होने के बावजूद, कुछ राइडर्स कथित तौर पर 120 kmph से ज़्यादा की रफ़्तार से चलते हैं। पिछले 5 सालों में NH-5 पर इस खतरनाक राइडिंग की वजह से कई एक्सीडेंट और मौतें हुई हैं।
