KL Rahul is a strong contender to be named India's vice-captain for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the West Indies, starting September 27. Shubman Gill will lead the team, with matches in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, and Mullanpur. This selection meeting, chaired by Ajit Agarkar, is his last under his current contract. With Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan unavailable due to the Asian Games, the wicketkeeper selection is between Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.
