Madras HC: Religious Groups Converting People Denied FCRA Registration

The Hindu · india

The Madras High Court has ruled that religious organisations engaged in converting people will be denied Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration. The court stated that while groups whose activities do not harm the nation's secular fabric are eligible, those involved in conversion activities will not be. This decision came while hearing an appeal from a charitable trust whose FCRA application was rejected. The judges emphasised that transparency is crucial, and organisations must fully disclose their activities when applying for such registration.
