Three Arrested in Vellore for Smuggling Two Large Elephant Tusks

Forest officials in Vellore have arrested three individuals for allegedly smuggling two large elephant tusks. The accused, identified as K. Thiruvengadam, G. Munusamy, and S. Govindaraj, were intercepted near Gudiyatham town. Officials seized the tusks, measuring approximately 64 centimeters each, from a gunny bag. The trio reportedly obtained the tusks from an elephant carcass near Papavinasanam reservoir after visiting Tirumala temple. They were apprehended while attempting to sell the tusks to prospective buyers in Vellore. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
